Guide
Located in the heart of Tottori City, the "Saturday Night Market" at Hondo Shotengai is a signature summer event with over 60 years of history. Held annually from late July to early August, the shopping street becomes a pedestrian-only zone filled with numerous food stalls and night shops. This cherished tradition connects the local summer spirit to new generations and is beloved by locals and tourists alike.
The greatest charm is seeing the everyday shopping street transform into a vibrant festival ground for one night. The colorful tents and stalls illuminated by traditional lanterns create a quintessential Japanese summer atmosphere. We recommend a leisurely stroll through the pedestrian zone to enjoy local delicacies and performances. It is a perfect way to experience a traditional Japanese summer night with family or friends.
The event is scheduled to take place on the following four dates in 2026:
Hours: 17:30 to 21:00. Enjoy the atmosphere as the street comes alive from dusk into the night.
Venue: Tottori Hondo Shotengai (Pedestrian Zone). During the event, vehicle traffic is restricted to ensure a safe space for pedestrians. Located in central Tottori City, the venue is easily accessible via public transportation or on foot. Feel free to explore the surrounding shops and facilities while you enjoy the festivities.
Since you will be walking through the shopping street, we highly recommend wearing comfortable walking shoes. To enjoy food stalls and shopping smoothly, please prepare plenty of cash (coins and small bills). As this is an outdoor summer night event, dress lightly for the warm weather. To fully enjoy the lively atmosphere, we suggest arriving with plenty of time to spare.
