Event Overview

The Higashi-Mikawa Cycle Marathon is a cycling event that starts at Sakurafuchi Park in Shinshiro City, Aichi Prefecture. Participants will tour the rich natural landscapes of the Oku-Mikawa region, including Itoshiro and Toei towns. Unlike a competitive race, this is a 'cycle marathon' format, meaning you can ride at your own pace while enjoying the scenery. The highlight is the exhilarating feeling of riding through approximately 100km of breathtaking mountain scenery.

Highlights & How to Enjoy

The biggest draw is the opportunity to ride through the dynamic nature and stunning landscapes of Oku-Mikawa. The course includes a hill climb time challenge at Yotsuya Senmaida, where you can test your limits using Strava to track your performance. There are four aid stations along the route where you can rest and refuel. Additionally, you can enjoy the local food culture, including lunch in Toei and the special commemorative gift of 'Toyohashi-produced Grilled Unagi (frozen)' included with your participation.

The event will be held on October 11, 2026 (Sunday). The schedule is as follows:

  • *Registration Starts**: 7:00 AM~
  • *Departure Time**: 8:00 AM~
  • *Final Goal**: 4:00 PM (Time limit: 8 hours, including lunch break)

  • Approx. 10 minutes (4.8km) from Shinshiro IC on the Shin-Tomei Expressway.

Important Participation Tips

This event is designed for participants who understand the rules and are capable of completing the course within the time limit. Participants under 16 must be accompanied by a guardian. As the course includes tunnels and some dark sections, front and rear lights must be kept on at all times. Helmets are mandatory for safety.

Gear, Clothing & Etiquette

  • *Helmet**: Mandatory (Participation is not allowed without one).
  • *Lights**: Front and rear lights are required (Must be turned on during riding; flashing is acceptable).
  • *Bicycle**: A well-maintained bicycle suitable for road traffic laws.
  • *Others**: Please prepare your own puncture repair kit and spare tubes.
  • *Traffic Rules**: This is not a competitive race; please ride at your own pace while strictly following all road traffic laws and using a map.
  • *Insurance**: We highly recommend joining bicycle insurance. Please bring a copy or the original of your health insurance card on the day.
