The Gifu Nagara River Fireworks Festival is a spectacular event held on the pristine Nagara River in Gifu Prefecture, blending ancient tradition with modern beauty. This event offers a rare chance to witness the 1,300-year-old art of 'Nagara River Ukai' (cormorant fishing) alongside a massive fireworks display. On the night of the fireworks festival, only 'Chartered Boats' (private/reserved boats) are in operation, unlike standard viewing tours. Therefore, advanced reservation and lottery entry are mandatory. Please note that boarding fees differ from regular days; check the official website for details. If the fireworks are canceled due to weather, the Ukai fishing may still proceed, but reservations cannot be rescheduled.
