Guide
Located at the Fureai Garden Terrace near the Ushiku Daibutsu, Fureai Zoo offers a wonderful opportunity to interact closely with various animals. Beyond the animal encounters, the venue features a lively monkey acrobatics show, a spacious lawn for children to play, and comfortable rest areas, making it an ideal space for families to relax and unwind.
The biggest draw is the proximity to the animals. You can interact with goats, rabbits, mini pigs, and even encounter more exotic species like parakeets and green iguanas. A major highlight is the traditional "Monkey Stage," where you can witness the impressive acrobatics and performances of monkeys up close—an entertaining spectacle that captivates both children and adults. Depending on the season, special programs like animal feeding experiences may also be available.
The event takes place on July 5, July 12, July 18, July 19, July 20, and July 26. Please note that the scale of the event (small or large scale) may vary depending on the day. The Monkey Stage performances are held four times on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays at 11:00, 12:30, 14:00, and 15:20.
The venue is the Fureai Garden Terrace located within the Ushiku Daibutsu complex. The area features wide lawn spaces and terraces, allowing you to enjoy a peaceful time while watching the animals.
To deepen your experience, we recommend participating in paid activities such as the animal feeding experience or special educational programs. Since the Monkey Stage follows a fixed performance schedule, be sure to check the timing in advance so you don't miss the show.
While there are open spaces for children to play, please be aware of local rules regarding prohibited items and behaviors. Note that there are no luggage storage or pet care services available on-site, so we recommend traveling light. For the latest rules and event status, please check the official website.
