The Fuji Shibazakura Festival, held at the Fuji Motosuko Resort in Yamanashi Prefecture, is one of the most iconic spring events in the region. From mid-April to late May, approximately 500,000 flowers (some sources suggest up to 800,000) bloom across the vast landscape. The sight of the vibrant pink moss phlox (Shibazakura) spreading like a lush carpet against the backdrop of the snow-capped World Heritage site, Mt. Fuji, is truly a masterpiece of nature. This seasonal spectacle continues to enchant travelers from around the world.

The event is held at Fuji Motosuko Resort. Access details are as follows:

  • *Bus**: Approximately 30 minutes by bus from Kawaguchiko Station (Fujikyu Line).
  • *Car**: Approximately 25 minutes from Kawaguchiko IC via the Chuo Expressway, or 50 minutes from Fuji IC via the Tomei Expressway.
  • *Parking**: The venue includes parking for 1,500 standard cars and 50 buses. During peak times, you may be directed to nearby temporary parking lots.

Tips for Visitors

The festival is incredibly beautiful but can become very crowded, especially during the peak bloom. We recommend planning your visit with plenty of time to spare. The venue is designed for free-roaming strolls, allowing you to enjoy the scenery at your own pace. For the best photos, consider the lighting and crowd levels to find your perfect angle against Mt. Fuji.
