The Tanabe Fireworks Festival is a grand, traditional event held at Ogihama Beach in Tanabe City, Wakayama. Celebrating its 56th year, this year's theme is "Tanabe Mankai," showcasing the rich history, natural beauty, and local spirit of the region. With approximately 3,500 fireworks launched, the atmosphere is even more vibrant as the event coincides with the local "Benkei Matsuri" festival.
The true magic of this festival lies in its massive scale. The absolute highlight is the "1,000m Golden Panorama Fireworks," a breathtaking sequence of light that fills the entire horizon. Visitors can enjoy a variety of stunning visual scenes:
The fireworks display is scheduled to begin around 8:00 PM and will last for approximately 20 minutes of intense, concentrated displays.
The event takes place at Ogihama, Tanabe City. Due to extreme crowds, using public transportation is highly recommended.
The Tanabe Ogihama Coast Parking Lot (paid) has specific restrictions to ensure safety:
Temporary parking lots are available at Tanabe Dai-ichi Elementary School, Bunri Multipurpose Ground, Toyo Junior High School, and Takao Junior High School, but spaces are limited. Please do not park on the streets.
Parking lots fill up very early, so please plan your arrival well in advance. To ensure a smooth exit from paid parking, having small change ready is a great way to avoid delays.
As the event is held near the coast, please follow the instructions of security personnel immediately if you feel a strong tremor or a tsunami warning is issued. Designated evacuation sites include the Kinan Cultural Center and Tanabe City Budo-kan.
