The Tanabe Fireworks Festival is a grand, traditional event held at Ogihama Beach in Tanabe City, Wakayama. Celebrating its 56th year, this year's theme is "Tanabe Mankai," showcasing the rich history, natural beauty, and local spirit of the region. With approximately 3,500 fireworks launched, the atmosphere is even more vibrant as the event coincides with the local "Benkei Matsuri" festival.

The event takes place at Ogihama, Tanabe City. Due to extreme crowds, using public transportation is highly recommended.

Parking Information

The Tanabe Ogihama Coast Parking Lot (paid) has specific restrictions to ensure safety:

  • *No Entry**: From approximately 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM
  • *No Exit**: From 8:00 PM to 9:00 PM

Temporary parking lots are available at Tanabe Dai-ichi Elementary School, Bunri Multipurpose Ground, Toyo Junior High School, and Takao Junior High School, but spaces are limited. Please do not park on the streets.

Managing Crowds

Parking lots fill up very early, so please plan your arrival well in advance. To ensure a smooth exit from paid parking, having small change ready is a great way to avoid delays.

Safety & Evacuation

As the event is held near the coast, please follow the instructions of security personnel immediately if you feel a strong tremor or a tsunami warning is issued. Designated evacuation sites include the Kinan Cultural Center and Tanabe City Budo-kan.

Practical Information

  • *Payment Methods**: Small change is required for parking fees. Please note that 10,000, 5,000, and 2,000 yen bills are not accepted at parking exits; please prepare coins or smaller denominations.
  • *Drone Policy**: For the safety of all spectators, the use of drones, RC helicopters, or any unmanned aerial vehicles is strictly prohibited.
  • *Boating Etiquette**: Please refrain from viewing the fireworks from fishing boats or motorboats.
  • *Reservations**: There are no formal reservations for viewing, but arriving early is highly recommended due to expected crowds.
