The Rei Matsuri Ryuto Fireworks Festival is a historic traditional event held every August 10th in Yanaizu, Fukushima Prefecture. This ritual is dedicated to honoring the spirits of the departed. The program is a profound and beautiful sequence: it begins with the Segaki ceremony at Enzo-ji Temple, followed by a ceremonial procession of children carrying lanterns, and the breathtaking sight of approximately 800 lanterns floating down the Tadami River, culminating in a grand fireworks display that lights up the night sky.
The greatest charm of this festival is the ethereal sight of countless lanterns drifting on the surface of the Tadami River as twilight falls, perfectly synchronized with the massive fireworks exploding above.
