Niiname-sai is one of Japan's most significant festivals, held at imperial palaces and shrines across the country. Kashihara Jingu, located in Kashihara City, Nara Prefecture, enshrines Emperor Jimmu and Empress Isonode Isuzu no Hime. Through this ceremony, prayers are offered for a bountiful harvest and the peace of the nation. A central part of the ritual involves offering newly harvested rice, known as "Kakechikara," which allows visitors to experience the deep connection between Japan's agricultural traditions and its spiritual heritage.
The main highlight is the performance of the traditional Kume-mai dance, a ritual dance associated with Emperor Jimmu. Four dancers perform to the sounds of ancient instruments like the Ryuteki, Hichiriki, and Wako, creating a powerful and breathtaking spectacle, especially during the striking sword movements.
