Mikuni Matsuri is a traditional festival held in Mikuni Town, Sakai City, Fukui Prefecture, boasting a rich history of 300 years. Recognized as one of the three great festivals of the Hokuriku region, it is a cherished cultural treasure passed down through generations. The sight of the heavily decorated "Hono-sansha" (ceremonial floats) parading through the streets is truly breathtaking and offers a profound look into local heritage.
The main attraction is the parade of the magnificent "Hono-sansha" floats. You can feel the power and energy of the traditional festival up close as the massive floats move through the streets. The streets will become very crowded along the parade route during the festival. If you plan to enjoy the food trucks, it is helpful to carry small change and wear comfortable clothing for easy movement.
