Guide
The Matsue Suigosai Lake Fireworks Festival is one of Japan's most impressive displays, held on the beautiful waters of Shinji Lake in Matsue City, Shimane Prefecture. This spectacular summer event combines traditional fireworks with a cutting-edge drone show, creating a magical atmosphere where the night sky and the lake surface become one.
The main draw is the massive scale of the production designed specifically for the wide expanse of Shinji Lake. You can witness powerful displays such as large-caliber shells launched simultaneously from four different barges, continuous diagonal shots, and rapid-fire starmines. The sight of fireworks reflecting on the lake surface alongside a synchronized drone show offers a unique experience found nowhere else. Enjoy this artistic light show set against the beautiful lakeside scenery.
The event is scheduled for the following dates in 2026:
The venue is the East Shore of Shinji Lake (Matsue City, Shimane Prefecture).
Traffic restrictions may be in place around the venue. Depending on the type of paid viewing seat, you may be subject to entry restrictions after certain hours, so we recommend checking your route in advance.
For the best view of the powerful fireworks, using paid viewing seats is highly recommended. For example, the Konan area offers a close-up, dynamic view of the shells launching from the four barges. Some locations, like the pair seats at Shiragata Shinji Ohashi Bridge, turn everyday pedestrian paths into exclusive viewing spots. As crowds are expected, please secure your tickets and confirm your transportation in advance.
