The Makuhari Beach Fireworks Festa (48th Chiba Citizens' Fireworks Festival) is a beloved summer tradition in Chiba City. The 2026 edition is particularly special, marking the 900th anniversary of the founding of Chiba. Set against the stunning waterfront of Makuhari, this year's event will feature a massive scale of approximately 24,000 fireworks. The festival offers several unique programs:
- *900th Anniversary Special Program**: To celebrate this milestone, the sky will be filled with 100 large-scale shells (5-sun size or larger) and 900 maritime fireworks, including creative displays featuring the Chiba clan crest and the number '900' set to music.
- *Powerful Maritime Fireworks**: Watch as massive fireworks, reaching up to 150 meters in diameter, are launched from the Makuhari shoreline toward Tokyo Bay. The wide-angle fan-shaped displays are a breathtaking sight.
- *Grand Finale**: Sponsored by ZOZO, Inc., the grand finale features approximately 10,000 fireworks, including golden 'Kinukabukusa' (Chrysanthemum) styles to create a majestic end to the night.
- *Message Fireworks**: A moving segment where high-art 'Shakudama' shells are launched alongside heartfelt messages.
Date & Schedule
Date: August 1, 2026 (Saturday). The fireworks display is scheduled from 19:30 to 20:30. In the event of bad weather or strong winds, a cancellation decision will be made by 9:00 AM on the day of the event.
Venue & Access
Venue: Makuhari Seaside Park (1 Mihama, Mihama-ku, Chiba-shi, Chiba) and surrounding areas.
Access: Approximately 15–20 minutes on foot from JR Keiyo Line 'Kaihimmakuhari Station.' Please allow plenty of time for travel as the area is expected to be extremely crowded.
Participation Tips
Viewing the event requires advance application or ticket purchases. Please note the following methods:
