The Kitanippon Shimbun Noryo Fireworks is a traditional event held annually in Toyama City and Takaoka City. The Toyama venue has been held every August 1st since 1947, serving as a tribute to the victims of the Toyama Air Raid and a prayer for peace and post-war reconstruction. The display takes place downstream from the Arisawa Bridge along the Jinzu River, located near the heart of Toyama City.
The main attraction is the intense sequence of colorful 'star mines' and massive shells that create a dazzling light show. These large-scale fireworks create a sense of awe as they bloom across the night sky. It is a popular event for families and couples seeking a beautiful summer experience. The Toyama venue takes place on August 1st. The fireworks are scheduled to launch from 19:35 to 20:30. Please note that the event may be canceled due to bad weather or heavy rain. The Takaoka venue is held on August 4th.
The main venue is located downstream from the Arisawa Bridge on the Jinzu River. From Toyama Station, you can take a tram or bus to the 'Anoya' stop, followed by a 10-minute walk. It is approximately a 25-minute walk from Toyama Station. Expect heavy traffic and road closures around the area; using public transportation is highly recommended.
There are no parking lots available near the venue, so please plan to use public transport or walk. Because the venue is very close to the city center, it attracts large crowds. We recommend arriving early to ensure you have a good viewing spot.
