The Kesennacho Kenka Tanabata Festival is a traditional celebration held in the Kesennacho Imaizumi district of Rikuzentakata City, Iwate Prefecture. With a history spanning approximately 900 years, this festival is a designated intangible cultural property of Iwate and is widely celebrated as one of the most unique and 'eccentric' festivals in the Tohoku region. The rhythmic sounds of traditional music (Ohayashi) echoing from within the floats further heighten the intense energy of the festival.
