The Kanmon Kaikyo Straits Fireworks Display is a massive event held across the Kanmon Straits, connecting Shimonoseki in Yamaguchi and Moji in Kitakyushu. This unique event features simultaneous launches from both sides of the water, making it one of the most impressive displays in Western Japan.
The main attraction is the sheer scale of 18,000 fireworks launched from both shores. You can enjoy massive shells and stunning light displays over the sea. For a unique perspective, look for sightseeing boats that may operate on the day, allowing you to view the fireworks from the water.

The event is split between the Shimonoseki side (Yamaguchi) and the Moji side (Fukuoka).
Areas around the venues become extremely crowded. There is no parking available, so using public transport is highly recommended. JR Kyushu may run extra trains between Kokura and Moji-ko stations. Note that some highway rest areas may close in the evening to manage traffic.
