Event Overview

The Joshu Yaki-man Festival is a traditional event held every year on January 11th at Isesaki Shrine in Gunma Prefecture. The highlight of this festival is the breathtaking sight of massive "Yaki-manji" (sweet savory buns) being grilled right in front of you. Since 2003, the festival has been held in conjunction with the "Daruma Market," the first market of the year in Isesaki, making it a vibrant winter tradition that blends local culture with festive energy.

This is a unique chance to experience a traditional local food culture. The process of grilling the giant Yaki-manji is highly photogenic, so bring your camera. Since it is held alongside the Daruma Market, you can fully enjoy the atmosphere of a Japanese New Year's market (Ennichi).
