Set against the iconic backdrop of Jigokudani (Hell Valley) in Noboribetsu Onsen, the "Jigokudani no Oni Hanabi" is a traditional ritual performed to pray for happiness and ward off misfortune. The performance features the "Yuki-jin" spirits holding large hand-held fireworks, releasing striking pillars of fire into the night sky. This event offers a unique way to experience local tradition and the intense energy of the volcanic landscape.
The main attraction is the sight of the fire pillars rising into the darkness and the powerful sounds echoing through the rugged scenery of Jigoki Valley. After the performance, there is often an opportunity to take commemorative photos with the performers dressed as the Yuki-jin, creating a wonderful memory of your trip. Since the venue is within walking distance of the hot spring town, you can enjoy the special atmosphere while wearing a yukata for a refreshing evening stroll.

The event takes place around the Jigokudani Observation Deck in Noboribetsu Onsen.
The venue is not very large and contains many steps and uneven surfaces. If you wish to watch the performance comfortably while sitting, we recommend arriving at least 30 minutes early to secure a spot. As eating, drinking, and smoking are prohibited at the venue, it is best to finish your meal at a restaurant in the hot spring town beforehand.
