Event Overview

Ishidoriya Matsuri is a lively traditional event that heralds the arrival of autumn. The historic and majestic "Nanbu Fury floats" parade through the main streets, filling the entire town with a sense of excitement. The sight of traditional dance processions, folk performing arts, and powerful portable shrines (mikoshi) is a breathtaking display of local culture and heritage. Schedule

The festival takes place over three days. Please note the main activities for each date:

  • *September 8 & 9**: Free-roaming float displays. The decorated floats will be seen throughout Ishidoriya from 13:00 to 21:00.
  • *September 10**: The main Ishidoriya Matsuri Parade. This central event begins at 12:55 at the Festival Plaza (area between Bunka Taxi and the Station Entrance intersection).

The festivities take place in various locations throughout Ishidoriya and around the Festival Plaza.

  • *Sept 8 & 9 (Free-roaming floats)**: Various locations throughout Ishidoriya
  • *Sept 10 (Main Parade)**: Festival Plaza area (near Bunka Taxi to Station Entrance intersection)

As crowds are expected around the venues, we recommend using public transportation or allowing plenty of time for travel.

Tips for Visitors

Ishidoriya Matsuri is a deeply rooted community event. Because the floats move through the town, you can enjoy the scenery from various vantage points. What to Bring & Etiquette

As the festival continues into the evening, please prepare for temperature changes. Although it is early autumn, the temperature may drop after sunset, so bringing a light jacket or wrap is recommended. Please be mindful of your surroundings and avoid blocking the path of the floats and shrines to ensure a smooth parade for everyone.
