The Haruki Danjiri Matsuri is a traditional festival held every September in the Haruki district of Kishiwada City, Osaka (near Nankai Main Line Haruki Station). Held on the same days as the Kishiwada Danjiri Matsuri, it is a deeply rooted, high-energy celebration. You will see 12 magnificent 'Shimo-Danjiri' floats, crafted from Japanese zelkova wood, racing through the streets.
The greatest thrill is the 'Yarimawashi'—the moment when the massive floats, weighing over 4 tons, execute a high-speed, sharp turn at a street corner. The sheer power of the local youth groups pulling the floats and the precision of the steering is truly overwhelming.
At night, the 'Hiire Eiko' (lantern-lit procession) takes place. The sight of the floats illuminated by red lanterns in the darkness creates a mystical and beautiful atmosphere, a stark contrast to the intense energy of the daytime. It is a rare opportunity to feel the heat of the festival up close.
