Guide
Furusato Hanabi in Naganuma is a breathtaking fireworks festival held at Naganuma, the largest lake in Miyagi Prefecture. This event is famous for its unique displays that are rare in inland regions, such as water-surface and underwater starmines. Approximately 3,000 fireworks will light up the night sky and the calm surface of the lake, creating a magical atmosphere. This beloved local festival continues to attract visitors from all over the region.
The main highlight is the spectacular use of the lake surface. The 'water-surface starmines' create a stunning reflection on the water, making the light appear even more intense and beautiful. Additionally, the massive 200m 'Niagara' waterfall of light is a must-see highlight of the evening. From the vast grounds of Naganuma Futopia Park, you can enjoy an unobstructed, powerful view of the display. Find your perfect spot to experience the moment where the sky and water become one.
The event takes place on August 13. The fireworks are scheduled to be launched from 19:00 to 21:00. Please note that the event will proceed in light rain, but in the case of severe weather, it may be postponed to the following day.
The venue is Naganuma Futopia Park in Tome City, Miyagi Prefecture.
There are 800 free parking spaces available near the venue. However, heavy traffic is expected, so arriving early is highly recommended. Please note that no special traffic regulations are typically implemented for this event.
There are no paid-seating areas, so anyone can enjoy the fireworks for free. Naganuma Futopia Park is a very large area with no obstructions, allowing for great views from many spots. However, because large crowds gather, planning ahead is essential. The rush to leave after the show can be intense, so we strongly recommend booking nearby accommodation or arranging your return transportation in advance.
As this is an outdoor summer event, heat and insect protection are essential. We recommend bringing a picnic mat (leisure sheet), portable battery, insect repellent, towels, and wet wipes for a comfortable experience. Since it will be dark at night, please wear comfortable walking shoes. For details on payment or specific rules, please check the official website.
