Event Overview

The Daisen Natsuyama Biraki Festival is a traditional event held to celebrate the arrival of the summer climbing season at Mount Daisen (1,729m), the highest peak in the Chugoku region. Historically revered as a "Fire God Mountain," the festival features sacred rituals to pray for safety. The most spectacular moment is the "Torch Procession" (Taimatsu Gyoretsu), where the mountain path is illuminated by a flowing river of fire, creating a truly mystical atmosphere.

There are two distinct ways to experience this sacred event:

• *Torch Procession (Eve Festival)**: Participants carry torches along a 1km stone-paved path. The sight of the flaming line cutting through the darkness is often described as a "one-night-only river of fire."
• *Summit Ritual (Sancho-sai)**: A sacred ceremony is held at the summit of Mt. Daisen (Misen) to pray for the safety of climbers. It is a profound moment to experience spiritual respect for nature alongside breathtaking views of the Sea of Japan.
• *Food & Stage Events**: At the Eve Festival venue, enjoy a food festival featuring local delicacies from the mountains and sea of Daisen, accompanied by live music performances.

Venue & Access

Venues differ depending on the part of the event you attend.

• *By Car**: Please use the Prefectural Daisen Parking Lots (1 or 2) or the Nanko-wara Parking Lot. If these are full, use the Makihara Parking Lot and take the free shuttle bus.
• *By Public Transport**: Take a bus from Yonago Station and walk from the Daisen-ji bus stop.

Essential Tips for Participation

To participate in the Torch Procession, you must purchase a "Torch Exchange Ticket" in advance via the online platform (Asoview!). There are no same-day tickets available. As this is a sacred ritual involving fire, please respect the ceremony and follow all safety and photography rules.

What to Bring, Clothing & Etiquette

• *Clothing**: The mountain area becomes very cold at night. Please bring a warm jacket or layers. Since the Torch Procession involves walking on uneven stone paths, sturdy walking shoes or sneakers are mandatory. Avoid high heels or pumps.
• *What to Bring**: To join the Torch Procession, you must present your purchased QR code (on your smartphone or printed).
• *Etiquette**: The Torch Procession is a sacred ritual. Please be mindful of others when taking photos and do not block the path. Bringing your own torches is strictly prohibited.
