The Beppu Fire Sea Summer Fireworks Festival is one of the largest and most prestigious fireworks displays in the Oita region, set against the stunning backdrop of Beppu Bay. Traditionally held on the last Sunday of July, the 2026 event is scheduled for July 27. Approximately 8,888 fireworks will light up the night sky over Beppu, creating a brilliant spectacle of light and color.
The absolute highlight of this festival is the legendary 'Golden Peacock.' This signature display spreads a massive, shimmering golden light across Beppu Bay, creating an overwhelming sense of beauty that captivates all spectators. In addition to the massive scale, you can enjoy highly synchronized displays where fireworks dance in perfect harmony with music, alongside various types of fireworks such as star mines and creative pyrotechnics. It is a multisensory experience that brings the summer night to life.
The event takes place along the coast of Beppu Bay. Please note the following access options:
For a more comfortable viewing experience, we recommend booking paid seating. In previous years, options included table seats, chair seats, and even beach area seating. Please check the official website for 2026 seat availability and pricing. To complete your experience, be sure to try Beppu's local delicacies such as Beppu Reimen (cold noodles), Toriten (chicken tempura), or Jigoku-mushi (steam-cooked food) before or after the show.
