Hote-sai: The Festival of Resilience and Fire Protection
1 min readTips for Visitors
To truly absorb the atmosphere, arrive early near the shrine to witness the departure, but be prepared for significant crowds. The energy is high, and the streets can become quite narrow.
Etiquette
As this is a sacred ritual intended to pray for community safety, please remain respectful of the shrine grounds and the participants carrying the Mikoshi. Avoid obstructing the path of the procession.
Recommended Duration
To experience the full arc of the festival, plan to spend at least 6–8 hours in the area, ideally staying through the evening return to see the climax of the ritual.
