Event Overview

The Daitoku-ji Korin-in Autumn Special Opening is a special event held at Korin-in, a sub-temple of the historic Daitoku-ji in Kyoto. Founded in the 1520s by the Hatakeyama clan of Noto, Korin-in has deep historical connections to the Maeda clan, who once repaired the main hall's roof.

During this opening, you can see the elegant Hinoki-bark thatched gate and the main hall, a masterpiece of Muromachi-period Zen architecture. A major highlight is the karesansui (dry landscape) garden, featuring bold stone arrangements in the Momoyama style, restored by the renowned garden designer Nakane Kinsaku. It is a rare opportunity to experience the harmony of historic architecture and meticulously designed gardens.

The main hall, designated as an Important Cultural Property, preserves the profound atmosphere of Muromachi-period Zen architecture.
