Event Overview

Located in Asakura City, Fukuoka, the Haki Dai Himawari Garden features approximately 160,000 sunflowers blooming across a vast 1.6-hectare area from mid-to-late September. The sight of the landscape turning a vibrant yellow is truly spectacular, resembling a golden carpet spread across the earth. During this season, the nearby Michi-no-Eki Haratsuru (Roadside Station) also hosts a "Sunflower Fair," where you can purchase fresh sunflower cut flowers and local specialties, adding to the seasonal excitement.

Highlights and How to Enjoy

The main attraction is the overwhelming density of sunflowers that fill your entire field of vision. A wooden observation deck is installed within the garden, allowing you to look down upon the flower beds from an elevated vantage point. From this height, you can experience the dynamic sensation of a yellow wave stretching toward the horizon, providing a unique perspective for photography compared to ground-level views. It is a perfect way to spend a relaxing moment with family or friends while feeling the energy of nature.

The event is scheduled to take place from mid-to-late September 2026. Please note that the peak blooming period may fluctuate depending on natural conditions such as weather and temperature. In previous years, such as 2019, the peak was observed as early as early September. We recommend checking the latest blooming status before your visit.

Venue and Access

The event is held at Haki Dai Himawari Garden in Asakura City, Fukuoka.

• *By Car**: Approximately 5 minutes from the Haki IC on the Oita Expressway, or about 10 minutes by car from JR Ukiha Station.
• *By Bus**: Take the Nishitetsu Bus (Route 40 or 41 bound for Haki) from JR N innermost Futsukaichi Station and get off at the "Uehara Tsuru Sunrise-mae" stop.

The nearby Michi-no-Eki Haratsuru is a very convenient spot for sightseeing and breaks.

Tips for Visitors

As the garden is quite vast, we strongly recommend wearing comfortable walking shoes. The observation deck is a very popular spot for photos; if you wish to enjoy the view without crowds, visiting in the early morning is best. You can also purchase fresh local vegetables and specialties at the nearby roadside station, making this an excellent destination for a road trip.

What to Bring and Etiquette

Since this is an outdoor activity, please bring sun protection such as a hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen. Comfortable sneakers are highly recommended for walking the large grounds. While admission is free, please follow garden etiquette and be careful not to damage the plants.
