The Aoshima Sea Procession is a traditional ritual deeply rooted in the Aoshima area of Miyazaki City. The highlight of this festival is the 'crossing of the sea.' Led by young local members, the sacred portable shrine (Mikoshi) is placed on a boat to circle the island in a ritual known as 'Kaijo-togyo' (Sea Procession).
