Guide
The Aburatsu Port Festival Fireworks is a quintessential summer tradition held at Aburatsu Port in Nichinan City. This event showcases massive, colorful fireworks that light up the night sky, creating a beautiful contrast with the nostalgic scenery of the port town. As a highlight of the local community festivities, it is a special event that draws many visitors to experience the charm of summer in Japan.
The main attraction is the powerful fireworks display that fills the sky with color. The view of the fireworks reflecting over the port creates an unforgettable atmosphere unique to this season. Beyond the fireworks, the day also features various local activities, such as public displays of patrol boats and local Shogi tournaments, allowing you to enjoy the multifaceted charm of the region.
The event takes place on July 18. The fireworks display is scheduled to begin at 20:00. Please note that the event will proceed in light rain, but in the case of severe weather, it may be postponed to the following day, July 19. As schedules may change due to weather conditions, we recommend checking for the latest updates on the day.
The venue is located within Aburatsu Port in Nishi-machi, Nichinan City. There is no parking available at the immediate venue. If you are driving, please use the designated temporary parking lots located at either "Aburatsu Port East Pier (Pier 11)" or "Odozu Port." A shuttle bus service will run from these parking areas to the venue (near the former Aburatsu Fishing Port) starting from 16:00. Please note that a "Parking Ticket (整理券)" must be purchased in advance to use the parking areas.
For a more comfortable experience, we highly recommend booking paid viewing seats. Options include the Main Venue (near Aburatsu Port West Green Park) and private seats that include dedicated parking. Since paid seats are available on a first-come, first-served basis, early reservation is strongly encouraged. It is also a good idea to check the availability of local food stalls and refreshments beforehand to fully enjoy the festival atmosphere.
As this is an outdoor nighttime event, please dress appropriately for the summer evening. The use of open flames (fire) is strictly prohibited at the venue. If you have purchased paid viewing seats, please keep your tickets safe until the end of the event, as they cannot be reissued. Additionally, remember to bring your required parking ticket for shuttle bus and parking access. Please check the official website for specific payment and reservation details.
