The Sumidagawa Fireworks Festival is a major event held along the Sumida River in Tokyo (near Asakusa in Taito Ward and Mukojima in Sumida Ward). One of its origins dates back to the Edo period, when fireworks were launched to promote the skills of firework makers during the cooling-off season. Today, it is celebrated as one of Japan's largest and most prestigious summer-night events, attracting crowds from all over.

There are no designated seating areas for comfortable viewing, except for the special 'Citizen Sponsorship Seats.' Most spectators will be viewing while standing or moving, so please prepare for a mobile viewing style. Due to extreme crowding, it is highly recommended to plan your return trip carefully.
